Rooney blames Salah for Liverpool's defeat to Chelsea

Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has hit out at Mohamed Salah after his poor display in Liverpool's defeat to Chelsea.

The result saw Arsenal move top of the Premier League table, with the Gunners now in command.

Rooney has now hit out at Salah in particular, questioning his defensive role for Arne Slott's side.

He said:

Great players have pride, and there is no doubt that Mo Salah has been one of the best players in the league for a long time.”

“When things are going well — you’re scoring goals, you’re winning games — it’s great, and the team is patient with that.”

But in the last week, I would question his performance.”

“I know he doesn’t always come back into defence or make the saves he needs to, but against Chelsea, his defence was being destroyed and he stood there watching.”
